Fall in the South is a special time of year. We can now cherish the crisp, cool air that fall brings. It’s time to turn off those air conditioners, open the windows, and enjoy your backyard! Here at TruGreen Midsouth, we’ve enjoyed providing your community with healthy, thick lawns. Now it’s time to relish those labors and appreciate the time and hard work that has been invested in your yard. After all, here at TruGreen, our motto is 'live life outside.' Fall is our favorite season because we’re able to be outside with our families without dealing with the heat, and we wanted to pass on some ideas for outdoor activities that you can do with your loved ones so you can get the most out of this special season.
Fall nights are the best for sleeping; it’s not too cold, or too hot. Why not set up a tent, build a fire pit, and take the family for a backyard camping trip? With the convenience of being able to use your own bathroom, and not having to make a long and tiresome drive, this would be one of the most wholesome camping trips you could take. Complete this outdoor experience by making a fire and roasting smores!
The NFL and college football are back, and our favorite players have returned to TV. Call your friends, make your teams, and create end zones in your own backyard. Feeling like just having a laid back Sunday? Then just take the kids outside during half time and toss the ball around.
One way to enjoy your lawn is by having others enjoy it as well. If you’ve been thinking about hosting a BBQ or party, now’s the time. Invite the neighbors over, maybe some family and friends, and enjoy your yard. It could be the last time you cook on the grill for this year, so make the most of it!
To really get the most out of your backyard during the fall, it’s all about family. If you carve pumpkins every October, why not do that outside? You’ll have less anxiety opening up a pumpkin if you don’t have to worry about the pumpkin seeds going everywhere. Do your children enjoy birds and like making crafts? How about creating a bird feeder out of a pine cone? Collecting pine cones with the kids is fun, and then just roll them in peanut butter and sprinkle birdseed on them. Hang them where you’ll be able to see the birds come and eat!
When people think of fall in the south they think of raking leaves. While this is an inconvenient chore, it can be fun to let your children jump in a pile of leaves. Turning a chore into a fun project is just another way of making the most out of fall.
